My Scottie has constant skin problem with itching, scabbing, hot spots, etc. This shampoo was first offered to me by my veterinarian but he had since stopped carrying it. I was absolutely delighted to see it offered on Amazon.com as it is the ONLY shampoo that helps my dog and I have tried many. Right away after using I could see that the itching has been relieved, my dogs coat looks 100% better, and she does not smell like a corn chip anymore! It contains a fungicide to fight fungal infections as well. For a medicinal based shampoo, it has a really decent scent. This review is from: Dermazole Shampoo 8oz (Misc.) If you are using this product on a dog, keep in mind that ringworm isn't very common in dogs. A staph infection looks almost identical to ringworm. Demodermic or sarcopic mange can also produce similar skin problems. Hypothyroidism may also be a culprit. In short if your dog is having skin problems that are resulting in loss of fur and/or lesions, this product probably won't help you at all and you need the services of a veterinarian to correct the root problem. As for the shampoo itself, it is relatively odorless and is very mild. Its active ingredients are 2% miconazole and 2% salicyclic acid (aspirin). The product claims to be both antifungal and an antiseptic shampoo. However, the only antiseptic ingredient is the 2% salicyclic acid and it did not appear to be effective against my dog's staph infection which I had mistaken for ringworm. This cat is big, an indoor cat, and does not move when he sees feet heading his way. Having the ankle injury I needed to know where he was so figured a bell collar would be a great idea. The idea was great but I was surprised to what I woke up to one day. The collar states it `breaks away'. I have bought these in the past and another brand failed me but did not think much of it since it was years ago and figured this one was made better. However I woke up one day to find salvia all over the pergo floors I own and the cat that had the collar on had tears in his eyes. His face was pointed down and it was not until I saw the side of his face did I notice the collar was stuck in his mouth! I did not put the collar on too tight either. Even though the collar is adjustable its still to be big for a 10-12 week old kitten. In fact my kittens were able to put their paw through the space in between the collar and their neck. Not exactly something you would want. Since cats grow really fast, I am keeping the collars to use them when the kittens grow up. It cleans and lathers well. After the wet dog smell dries up, the clean shampooed fur smells great and lasts for at least a month. I usually just wipe her face since she gets that area dirty but the rest of the body stays nice and fresh smelling. I have also used this shampoo on our Maltese and I got the same results. The only gripe I have is that ticks are still latching onto our dogs here and there. Never had either dog get fleas so I guess that portion may be doing its job. Wow this is a great shampoo, I take my dog hunting with me and sometimes in the field he gets things on him that are unwanted (most of the animals in the wild have ticks and fleas on them). This shampoo solves my problems, everytime after the trip I wash him with this shampoo and so far I haven't had any problems.
